American Library Association Youth Media Awards
Every January, the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), presents its prestigious Youth Media Awards. Many of these awards have been given for decades, so there are many previous award winners and honorees, many of which reflect the values and beliefs of their time.
California Young Reader Medal
The first California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) was awarded in 1975 to How to Eat Fried Worms, by Thomas Rockwell. CYRM winners have been chosen every year since then, based entirely on the votes of young readers in the state of California.
