This week, to support the fair, I will be using library time to showcase some of the books that will be available for purchase. Some are familiar to the students already, but a great many are new to us all, and some from debut authors.
Students will visit the fair with their classes next week in lieu of going to the library, but the library will be open regular hours, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day.
Wednesday, December 5, is Family Night at the book fair! Please be sure to come to this fun family Pennekamp tradition. The "teacher raffle" will take place that night, too. My event is an evening pajama storytime in the library!
DK/TK is hearing stories this week on weather. These classes do not visit the fair during the school day, but DK/TK families are very much encouraged to come to Family Night! I am always impressed by the DK/TK students' interest in books and eagerness for reading.
Book club news: this Friday in the library at lunch recess is the 5th-grade book club's monthly meeting. We will be discussing The Potato Chip Puzzles, by Eric Berlin (the second of his "Winston Breen mysteries"). The library has just purchased the first and third of the Winston Breen mysteries--and they are already both checked out! Interested students can sign up on the waiting list. I am planning to start the book club for 4th grade in January, so stay tuned for details on that.
