The last day to check out books from the library will be Monday, June 3. All books are due Monday, June 10.
There is never a late fee at the library; but if a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, it must by paid for. Each book has its own price, and as the library is unable to make change, payment for lost or damaged items must be in exact change or a check payable to MBUSD. Email reminders should be going home regarding outstanding items; feel free to contact me at bbroka@mbusd.org if you have any questions about your account or that of your son or daughter. If a student, or his or her parent, has unresolved library issues on the last day of school, that student's report card will be held at the school office pending resolution. Please clear up all library matters before that time!
Classes will continue to visit the library until June 14. Books will only be returned after Monday, June 3--there will be no more checking out after that time.
The library will be closed all day on Monday, June 17, while the library volunteers and I put the shelves in order. After that time, the library will not be open during lunch recess.
Friday, June 7, is the last meeting this year's 5th-grade book club. I have very much enjoying talking about books with this literate and lively group. At our upcoming meeting we will discuss Every Soul a Star, by Wendy Mass. This book was chosen to get club members started on their summer reading. Students beginning 6th grade at Manhattan Beach Middle School are required to read 3 books from the summer reading list. I suggest students take notes on the books they read, because these books become the subject of class projects when school begins in the fall.
I plan to be at the library on the night of Open House, so please drop by!
