Students in grades K, 1, and 2 are also in the midst of the CYRM nominees. The selections for those grades this week are Too Tall Houses, by Gianna Marino; and Exclamation Mark, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld. All the nominees in the "Primary" category are excellent this year--it's anyone's guess what will win this year! TK will hear the last two contenders this week and perhaps even vote (time permitting).
The book club for 5th-grade students had its first "real" meeting today, with a discussion of A Tale Dark and Grimm, by Adam Gidwitz. The book was well received and the students did an excellent job with it. Club members choose (by popular vote) what the club reads and rate the book selections, so you may want to take a look at the Book Club page of this site to see what the students have chosen and how they like the books. Next month the club is reading Counting by 7s, by Holly Goldberg Sloan.
