This week during class visits grades DK to 2 will continue hearing nominees for the California Young Reader Medal (CYRM). Grades 3, 4, and 5 will finish voting on the CYRM category Picture Book for Older Readers. Grade 3 will talk about poetry resources, including where poetry is shelved in the library and how to search for poetry on OPAC. Grades 4 and 5 will review library skills by considering how to search for information on the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose birthday (January 15) we honor annually with a federal holiday, celebrated on the third Monday in January.
On Tuesday, January 11, district librarians will make a presentation to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation. The MBEF funds all the district's school librarians--at the elementary, middle, and high schools. Thank you, MBEF!
Please note, the next meeting of the library's book club for students in grades 4 and 5 has been changed to Wednesday, February 2. Pre-enrollment is required; contact Ms. Barbara for further information.
