Our readings during class visits mostly focus on summer activities. DK will be hearing about a sample of fun things to do: swimming, kite flying, bicycling, and of course reading; kindergarten's book is on a museum visit; 1st grade is off to Hawaii (via picture book, I mean); 2nd grade is hearing about visits to the library of the legendary "Spud Murphy"; 3rd grade and 4th grade are both looking at classic silent films; and 5th grade will be hearing a travel story--a view of the Lewis and Clark journey through the eyes of the expedition's canine companion.Scholastic merchandise has been received and is being sorted out for distribution, certainly by the end of this week.
Book club for 4th grade meets this Friday, May 25; book club for 5th grade meets next Friday, June 1. The library's Dragon Night event is the following Friday, June 8, at lunch. June 14 the library will be closed to the public all day for shelf-reading.
Here again are the end-of-year dates as announced last week:
Classes will visit the library as usual through the week that ends on June 8.
The last day to check out books will be June 1. Please return all books as soon as possible, but certainly by June 8. A student will not receive his or her report card if he or she has outstanding library issues, and that includes books owed by the student's parent.
If you need to pay for a lost book, please pay with a check made out to MBUSD. Cash is also acceptable, but please make payment in exact change.
